The Gullak Project (thegullakproject.org) is a student-led initiative to spread financial literacy among children at NGOs by distributing gullaks (piggybanks) and running hands-on sessions that demystify saving, inflation, and the basics of investing. Our mission is to shift mindsets away from India’s culture of “under-the-mattress” savings toward simple, goal-based money habits. To date, we’ve partnered with 8+ NGOs across 2 states—including the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment’s Centre for the Study of Social Change (CSSC)—and have given out 500+ gullaks (100+ in collaboration with TribesforGood), reaching an estimated 5,000+ individuals. We conduct workshops in three local languages—English, Hindi, and Marathi—to make content accessible and culturally relevant, and we pair each distribution with short activities that help students set savings goals and track progress at home. The project has raised ~₹200,000 to fund materials and delivery, enabling us to expand programming and deepen impact in underserved communities.

I created a platform to distribute student-made notes across 3 subjects over 2 grades, turning exam prep into a service that funds education for those who can’t afford it. What began after meeting a student in need at a Children’s Teaching Centre grew into a sustainable, give-as-you-learn model: I’ve sold 100+ notes to 40 students, raising over ₹1,00,000 and fully funding three children’s education for a year. Instead of traditional fundraising, I sell my own notes so the project “strikes two birds with one stone” and I’m now working to scale it into a long-term social enterprise. I have set up a website to hopefully continue exam prep distribution in our school and at the same time collect the profits to continue

I led a community collection drive that raised 5,000+ toys and books and ran awareness campaigns through social posts to support children’s education. Donations were directed to Udte Raho’s Children’s Library (Rajasthan) and the SABIA Rotaract Club, South Bombay. I served as Director, Entrepreneurship Development, and Assistant Director, Community Service, guiding a 60+ member team to plan, execute, and distribute the collections.

During my summer outreach with TribesforGood, I partnered with 3+ NGOs to deliver finance education. At school, I helped organize a bake sale that raised ₹18,000, which we donated as books and stationery to Raksha, where I also taught the basics of accountancy and investing. I led a SUPW workshop to build financial literacy among our school’s support staff and contributed to the school’s Financial Awareness Drive, teaching younger students about financial fraud. Separately, I mentored 200+ students at the Raksha Centre (2 hours daily through the summer) and served on the Organizing Committee for the 4C Conference, running hands-on science teaching sessions for attendees.
